A very subtle observation of knowledge creation
Today my children had the wood working class. They asked me what on the agenda today. I told them today you choose what to do. Every child came up with something and started working on it.
As they left with freedom to work I took backseat only to observe and watchful for their safety.
I had witnessed they invent techniques to solve problems. After a few trial and error they came up with techniques on their own. Suppose if we have thought them to follow a perticular steps to achieve a perticular goal the knowledge creation wouldn’t been possible.
Some may argue that there is no point in wasting the time to reinvent what’s already been invented.
See, it doesn’t matter if children invent what’s already been invented. When they invent something it’s their reality. It’s a real invention for them. Cultivating the capability to invent something is most important.
I want to facilitate my children to become inventors of solutions not just followers. Today their small inventions create the capability and gives confidence and provides satisfaction in their life. This is how we create healthy human beings who find happiness in doing simple productive things.
When parents visit our school and when my children work is showcased, parents feel nothing important happened here since they see through the modern conditioned mind whereas I see an inventor and innovator in making. Through all these activities I am sure my children do not become a blind follower but a critical thinker.
The final result of my work with the children in our Gurukulam will be visible when they become adults.
